The Charlbury Society was formed in 1949 as a result of the first Charlbury Historical Exhibition. Its aims are: to record facts of local historical, environmental and general interest: to maintain a collection of objects of local interest; to promote local amenities and to foster a general pride and interest in the character and appearance of the town.
The Charlbury Society holds monthly evening meetings from October to May, usually in the War Memorial Hall at 7.30 pm on the 2nd Friday of the month. Full details of the programme can be found elsewhere on this site
The Charlbury Society maintains The Charlbury Museum, which contains many items reflecting the history of the town and its people. The Museum is open from Easter to the end of September on Saturdays from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon and on Sundays and Bank Holidays from 2.30 pm until 4.30 pm. Special opening can be arranged by telephoning the Curator, Mr Ron Prew, on 01608 810060
