In the summer Swerford resident Jonathan Warr and six intrepid friends took part in a sponsored cycle ride to raise funds for Katherine House Hospice.
They based themselves at Leys Farm so took the title The Swerford Seven. The seventy mile route that they followed is part of the annual organised Circuit of the Cotswolds Challenge Ride and is a real test of fitness and stamina.
Serious preparation was needed and the group trained at least twice a week with a long trip at weekends. Often this would be over to Bicester to claim a cup of tea as a reward at the new garden centre before facing the journey back.
As well as improving their fitness the keen cyclists were able to present Katherine House Hospice with a cheque for £2,700 as result of their splendid efforts.
