Swerford Harvest Festival Service

The Swerford Harvest Festival was held in St Mary's church on October 7th 2007

After the bells had rung for half an hour to summon the congregation the service began at 6.30pm

The service was well attended and the congregation was welcomed by the Rector the Reverend John Acreman.

He led them in prayer and affirmation of faith, and there was opportunity for quiet reflection.

All the windows and pews were decorated

During the course of the service six joyful harvest hymns were sung and Charles Campion gave readings from both the Old and New Testaments.

The Rector gave the Address and with the special assistance of two of the younger members of the congregation gave a practical demonstration of the current imbalance of food distribution in the world.

We are indeed blessed

After the Blessing most of the clergy and congregation went on to the village hall to enjoy a delicious Harvest Supper but at the same time to reflect on their own good fortune in being able to do so.
