is a charming village of ironstone cottages, which occupies a secluded valley to the north east of Chipping Norton. It is mentioned in the Domesday book of 1086. St Mary's church, founded at the beginning of the 13th century, is a prominent feature, and stands in front of a motte and bailey which was probably erected almost a century earlier.

Several artists and craftspeople live in this delightful village, and painting, photography, pottery, furniture making and floral artistry are all represented. Swerfordians regularly participate in the Oxfordshire Artweeks program.At least two MBEs live in the village.

Coming soon - Swerford Open Gardens Weekend

The village hall is the venue for regular weekly activities and meetings held by social and educational groups within the locality. Swerford provides an ideal base for visitors to the Oxfordshire Cotswolds.There are several holiday cottages, a playing field for children and a thriving farm shop.

On Saturday May 12th a group of present (&former) Swerfordians went on a virtual fungus foray starting with the highly prized edible Shaggy Inkcap, ending with Magic Mushrooms & looking at some other beguiling fungi on the way.There were lots of colour photographs & some real local fungi.
