John did not let me have any
memories of his time at Brize Norton,
but he sent me these pictures

John knew the chap in
the middle of the picture as 'Pops' and
did not know his name, I am told by
Mike Burnett, that his name was Mr.
Phipps and he used to ride his bike to
and from the base to work where he
cleaned the brass on the fire engines.
He was a very short man and lived in
the first council house on the Minster
