Milton-under-Wychwood volunteers is a new volunteer group with its main aim to tackle those jobs around the village that fall between or outside the remit of other organisations - in essence, to make the village a more attractive place to live.
We work closely with the Parish Council, and we consult with them and the local community about projects. We are also supported by Cottsway Ltd., who, along with the Parish Council, have given us a start-up grant to purchase our equipment.
We have a steering group consisting of me (Chris Trotman), Christine Hart (our link Parish Councillor) and Martin Gibbs.
We have a team of about a dozen volunteers and we will be meeting once a month on the second Friday and Saturday to tackle a particular project. One of our initial targets will be the Village Green. The Council has contracted work to manage the trees and hedgrows and we are hoping to provide back-up to this and make further improvements. We are also looking at the possibility of erecting notice boards for everyone to use, at vantage points around the village. We have a growing list of other projects.
If you would like to know more about the Milton Volunteers and the projects we have in mind, please contact me, Chris Trotman on 01993 832614 or email chris@cst2008.orangehome.co.uk
Involvement on a monthly basis is not obligatory but there may be incentives for regular involvement. In any case, there will be the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped to make our village a nicer place to live.
