(Distances approximate) Langford The village of Langford is situated in attractive countryside on the Oxfordshire/Gloucestershire border in the Cotswolds, an area renowned as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village dates from the Anglo Saxon period and was recorded in the Doomsday survey of 1086. The village today is a quiet back¬water with an attractive array of stone built cottages and farmhouses, surrounded by open farmland and countryside. The adjacent market town of Lechlade provides a good selection of local amenities, whilst the larger centres of Swindon, Cheltenham and Oxford are all within easy travelling distance. Communications in the area are excellent, with the M5 motorway at Cheltenham, the M40 at Oxford and the M4 at Swindon, whilst rail travel is available at Oxford, Didcot and Swindon with fast train services to London Paddington. Sporting and leisure facilities in the area include golf at Burford, racing at Cheltenham and Newbury, and the surrounding countryside provides attractive walking and riding along a network of footpaths, bridleways and byways.
