How does it work

Mindfulness affects the way the brain works and its structure.

Research has confirmed that people undertaking mindfulness training show increased activity in the pre-frontal cortex, an area of the brain linked with positive emotion, which is generally less active in people who are depressed.

More than 100 studies have shown changes to brain wave activity during meditation.

In fact, areas of the brain linked to emotional regulation have been found to be larger in people who have meditated regularly for more than 5 years.
