Represents the interests of the people of Eynsham and Barnard Gate to other public authorities, and is consulted on things like planning, public transport, road improvements, mineral policy, tourism and crime prevention. Code of conduct here
Contributes to local amenities such as allotments, bus-shelters, churchyard upkeep, litter bins; provides recreational facilities including community buildings, playing fields and the Abbey Fishponds; and makes grants in aid of many village clubs and charities. At present it is actively involved in:
affordable housing for local people off Merton Close
proposals for housing at Eynsham East
response to the flooding of July 2007
planning for future development of the parish to 2026
developing the village website
improving the council newsletter and reviewing noticeboards
upgrading play areas – most recently Witney Road.
Also provides services on behalf of the County Council, such as grass- cutting.
Meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 19.30 in the Bartholomew Rooms. Members of the public are welcome to attend. Public participation is invited near the start of the meeting on any item under discussion. More here.
