Filmed at Chastleton

The BBC 1972 production of Webster's 'The Duchess of Malfi' Jacobean tragedy, was filmed in Chastleton House, in 13 parts. You can access a videotape of the production by googling Duchess of Malfi 1972 BBC production at Chastleton or: Go to the 'Useful Links' page to click and access directly.

In 1976, scenes from 'Joseph Andrews' were filmed at Chastleton. The film, directed by Tony Richardson, starred Ann-Margaret, Michael Horden, Beryl Reid, Jim Dale and peter Firth. One of our volunteers was an extra and also helped with the costume.

Other productions include: 1979 'Pity She's a Whore', 1982 'Aerodrome', 1985 'Silas Marner', 2005 'Elizabeth 1 - The Virgin Queen (BBC production)

In addition: part of David Dimbleby's 2007 series on 'How we Built Britain'and an edition of BBC 'Countryfile' in 2012.

In 2013, episodes of BBC 'Bargain Hunt'have featured the Long Gallery,the Great Chamber and Great Parlour.An episode of Celebrity Antiques Road Show was broadcast in November. 10 episodes of 'Father Brown',series 2, filmed during June is being broadcast on BBC 1, afternoons, for 2 weeks, from Monday 6th January. The episode featuring interiors of Chastleton House should be transmitted on Thursday 9th January 2014.
