Cassington Consort A small group of musicians who play a whole range of recorders, together with an accompanist playing the piano and spinet, have been meeting weekly (Thursday 4 – 5pm) in Cassington for about 5years. The main aim of this group is to make music for their own enjoyment.
However, on at least 5 occasions over the last 4 or 5 years, they have given concerts ostensibly to raise funds for worthy causes. For these events, other instrumentalists have augmented the group (clarinet, bassoon, violin, guitar). Together with other groups in the village (drama and choirs and individual performers)Cassington Consort have presented such events as Musical plays, Fund raising concerts, Entertainment evenings.

Cassington Singers
Last April a group of Mums, Dads, Grandparents, aunts, uncles, older brothers and sisters of children in St. Peter’s School Choir started to sing together. Over the summer months this group of 12 people developed into a four part choir of 32 who meet the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 6.30 pm for an hour in St. Peter’s church in Cassington. Although they meet in the church where the accoustics are good and there is a piano, the choir is essentially a Community Choir and their repetoire is very varied; classical, folk, contemporary, popular.
As a number of choir members have young children, they have organised a creche in the vestry looked after by a responsible adult.
If you would like to sing with this choir, the only requirement is that you enjoy singing. There are no auditions. There is a wide skill level within the membership from
some being able to sight sing to some not being able to read music.
