CPRE West Oxfordshire

CPRE campaigns across England to protect our beautiful countryside and encourage the continuing vitality of rural communities. Through our local committee and volunteers in West Oxfordshire we take an active role in · Planning. We regularly monitor the planning lists published by WODC and comment on those applications which we feel will have a significant impact on the environment. We take an active role in the process of consultation and appear at public inquiries to make our voice heard. Currently we are campaigning to save the area to the east of Eynsham and at Newbridge from extensive gravel extraction and supporting an alternative scheme to the proposed Cogges Link road to alleviate Witney’s traffic problems.

· Social Policy. We support those policies and initiatives which will maintain the life of rural communities. In particular we campaign for the retention of village post offices and shops, support farmers’ markets and local food producers and are anxious to find ways of accommodating affordable housing in our towns and villages. · Public Information. We provide help and information to the public on planning issues and will support local campaigns to protect the countryside. We can provide speakers for clubs and organisations to tell you about our work.

To Join CPRE costs £25 per annum . You will have the satisfaction of knowing that your support is helping to fight against the constant threats to the countryside. In addition you will get · Access to members’ social meetings and events. · A twice yearly magazine – Oxfordshire Bulletin · An extensive weekly e-mail briefing on campaign and planning issues. · Countryside Voice- the thrice yearly national magazine of CPRE · Half price admission to some of the finest houses and gardens in Britain.
