Whats On
Alvescot is a small village in Oxfordshire England, and as can be seen from the photo it is adjacent to RAF Brize- Norton which is in the back ground of the photo and then behind that Carterton. Alvescot lies between the Cotswold hills and the Thames valley, it has a population of about 400 which unlike years ago, when the inhabitants were more or less stable and were born here, lived here and died here, the population is very fluid, probable effected by the proximity of the air base, as a lot of the inhabitants are service personal or connected to it, although I think there is a general tendency for the population to move about much more than previously. Alvescot has one pub, one shop, an excellent school, and a village hall, We have completing a village appraisal for the millennium, which gives a snap shot of the village at the turn of this century, It is included in these pages, as are most of the things of interest related to Alvescot
